    Autumn Morning

It has been too long since I’ve posted or offered a critique here. I guess life gets busy. Here is an image taken yesterday morning. All comments welcome.

Nice B&W. It would be fun to colorize the leaf.

Too bad all the people who know how to run this country are busy running taxicabs or cutting hair.

Great shot. Makes me wonder what color it is though. Adds to the effect.

Phil, this is a very well executed photograph. The tones and the textures are fine. I like how you managed to compose this with elements arround the leaf that each have a visual impact of their own yet they doesn't distract from the main subject.

Kudos for going b&w if you ask me. Autumn colors do are beautiful but with the tones you have achieved here, I just forget about colors for a while.

    Jim,
Thanks for the comment. I shot this in black and white so I can't colorize.

    Ridgetop,
Just for your knowledge the leaf was a brownish green.

    Ronnoco,
I understand you point of view, however I do think Black and white can render the changing of seasons as well as color.

    Seb,
Thanks for the kind words. My intent from the beginning was for the textures and shades of grey. It is something I have always been passionate about

Again thanks to all for the feedback

It's a shame it's B&W to be honest. It says "B&W leaf" to me rather than "autumn morning". A colour version would have been more fitting for the title.

Other than that, great image, great clarity and great tones.

Phil - Sorry, but some things should be in color, like sunsets and, fall colors! If you shot it in color and desaturated it, try posting the color version here for comparison. -GB

    Re: Autumn Morning

    Allison and GB

Thanks for the comments. It is simply titled Autumn Morning because it was taken early morning in the beginning of October.

It was shot in black and white so I never envisioned it as color. The textures are what compelled me to take the image and the leaf was a drab brown and would be unimpressive in color. Not to defend my point but can't the word autumn convey more than just color? There are sounds and smells and emotions that tie us to this time of year. Anyway I understand and appreciate the point you make.

    Regards,

    Phil
