    Autosports

Well this was my second shoot and thanks to JSPhoto and Smartwombat I was ( I think) able to really capture the action. My first shoot I had the shutter set to fast and it stopped all the motion. I turned down the shutter started leading the cars I am much happier with the results. BUT.... still looking for way to improve, critique welcome. BTW I was able to keep about 85% of the photos taken, is this a good %?

This is me in my MINI S going into turn 16 at sebring an a friend taking the photo.

I think you have some potential here, but I think some of the photos need to be closer in on the action. What lens were you shooting with? I think a 200 or 300mm telephoto is usually what's used for shooting car racing so you can fill the frame with the car. Also, unless you are panning, the slow shutter speed isn't necessarily a good thing in my opinion. It makes the pictures look a tad out of focus. Hope this helps.

PS. About keeping 85% of your shots...You may want to be a bit more selective. When I do a shoot, I usually keep one out of every 50 shots...but hey, if you can be that consistent, then great!

Freerider, I was using a 100-300 Canon. I kept most shots because this was an amateur -pro event and everyone wants pics of their cars. For me I would not keep all of them for myself I was just saying that out of all of them a little more that 85% were focused and in frame. This was out of about 600 shots. I was panning/leading the cars, took a few shots to figure out where they had to be so I didn’t cut them in half. The one with the corvette was far away, but if you look at the full photo in my gallery, I kept it because of the depth of field…. To me it looked almost 3D

Thanks for the feedback, my Dad also thinks the shots should be tighter. Hard though with objects moving above 80mph.... but working on it.
