    Don ~

    I think I prefer image #1 although I applaud your efforts for bringing in a human subject in #2, I know you don't often do that. #2 seems to be an in between sort of picture, mostly a snapshot of a walk but the whisper of something else going on there. Anyway, the thing I like about #1 is exactly what's wrong with it but in this case it kinda of works. You've split the frame so completely and the distinction between foreground and background is so sudden, with no real middle, that it looks like you have sandwiched two pano cropped images together into one frame. It's interesting, as my eyes see it more readily as two pictures than as one. There are plenty of technical issues I could pick over but over all I enjoy the way the blues, black and white are working together, it sort of reminds me of a ski sweater pattern. Keep shooting!

    Thanks CLK. I did split the photo, reducing beta in the sky and increasing contrast in the snow--making it look almost intolerably bright (which is how it really looks).
