    Asakusa

Asakusa temple arcade last summer. Tokyo Japan. I'm not sure (looking back on this shot) that it was wise to have put the focal point of all those lines in the dead center of this one, but i wanted to stretch the lines out as far as possible to get a feel for the length of the arcade

    Hi dmizer,
I like the different lighting in the picture. I wish the shot were a bit brighter. I guess some sunlight would help.

Hi dmizer...I like this a lot. I can understand your concern about the focal point, etc...but really, I don't see too much issue with that. What I really like here is the green that's kind of threaded through the picture. Obviously plants, but as it gets further away, it just looks like splashes of color. Pretty neat. I also like the poses of the people in this...particularly the girl in the sailor outfit on the left. I like her feet and the fact that she's looking to the right. Also the vendor underneath the 250 sign...I like his position as well.

I like it too. I would have done the same thing with the lines as well. With everything else in such turmoil (the signs, the people, the items in the stalls) the lines are the only bit of "order" you have there. No matter how much turmoil there is in everything else, the lines go straight and true and right down the center! And like Emily, I really like the splashes of green throughout the shot.

Emily: actually, you've hit on my favorite part of this shot. the vendor over there on the left, his pose is fantastic in my opinion. unfortunately i can't say that i caught him that way on purpose ;) ... maybe i'll experiment with a bit of a crop for a second version of this shot and see what i can do about bringing the center of attention a little more toward that area.

yoyo: i was a bit disappointed with the lighting too. perhaps i will dig out my photoshop and play with that too.

D: thanks for the order in chaos justification ... lol. i wish i could have gotten a few more people in that shot. but as i was taking it, the people behind me were being polite and trying not to walk into my shot ... which is why there is a void directly in front of me. but maybe that's a good thing too, because then the lines in the stone walkway would have been lost.

thanks everyone for your kind remarks.
