Artistic Flower and my new film scanner

I posted the second picture here a few days ago. Developed at the lab at Walmart. I did nothing to this picture but darken it a little and crop it. The first is a scan of the negative with an Olympus ES-10 film/slide scanner I bought on e-bay for $30.00. All I did to this picture is a slight crop and knocked of a couple of dust particals in PS. This a basically the effect I was after. Not your magazine type flower shot but more artistic. What do you guys think???? Why is mine so different than Walmarts? How about it Ladybugamada?

I'm curious to see what everyone says about the difference! I LOVE the one you scanned yourself! It is so cool! Very frameable - makes me think of the '70's. I'll stay tuned for more info!
