    Arica, Chile

So we just like taking pictures. We're currently missionaries in Peru and needed to cross the border to Arica, Chile to obtain our resident visas. We stayed on the water - it was just a beautiful place. We take no credit for how God designed this hibiscus so perfectly! We use a Canon PowerShot SD600.

    Hi Laura!

Beautiful hibiscus you found there! How are you liking the Powershot as opposed to the D70 you had back home? I think it's done a pretty good job here. Did you use the macro setting for this? (That's the flower icon.) I see what scientist is saying about the white building but I think it serves a purpose for distinguishing the stamens of the flower from the background. Welcome to the forum little sister! :biggrin5: I'm so glad you posted! Please post more!

Oh it just hit me I bet that white building was the hotel where you were staying. Aha!

Thanks for the responses! Yes, the white building in the back was actually our bungalow, so for sentimental reasons, I'm glad it's in the picture. Yes, I used the macro setting for this shot - i've really enjoyed using that setting! This camera is just so perfect for our pace of life right now. Sometimes we do miss our Nikon D-70, but I know we wouldn't use it nealy as much as our Powershot if we had it here. We don't really want to look like tourists, you know, but the zoom on the little guy cannot compare to the D-70. We still have a lot to learn about the settings on this one.

Yes, it is a pretty flower. Maybe it's got the golden ratio designed right inside of it there.

now I can understand why you like the white bungalow, since you stayed there...it's a great memory together with such beautiful flower.
