Seb, this is overall a nice, moody image in it's simplicity, softness and shadows lurking about adding a bit of mystery in. The yellow behind the yellow leaf is distracting somewhat in that it's bright and a similiar color. I think burning it darker and desaturating it would help. I'm not certain how I feel about the out of focus branch on the other side. You have me interested and looking forward to more of this series.

Gary, Thanks for commenting. My prime concern here was about the tip of the leaf falling out of focus due to the very narrow dof (but I guess that this is ok as you haven't mentioned it).

Are you concerned about both branchs or only the one at the extreme right? Also, what is your concern?

    regards

I did notice the out of focus leaf tip, but felt it really was not important ,but might be improved with greater dof. The concern with the branch on the extreme right is that it is distracting somewhat in that it offers nothing and is out of focus, but, then yet it seems to help balance the composition. So, I'm really not certain about it, but I feel it could do without as the negative space would not be a bad thing.

I like this picture a lot. I do agree with gahpsidy that the yellow leaf in the background should be burned in a little so it was less distracting. Other then that, great detail on the focal point, and the simplicity of the picture facinates me.

    well done.

Seb, I think this is quite beautiful. I feel like I can almost pluck the leaf right out of this picture. The only nit I have with this is the out of focus branch. I find it fairly distracting...but you may find that others feel differently.

ETA: I'm talking about the branch on the right, btw. I have no problem with the branch that appears to be holding the leaf.

This is a lovely photo and I like the way the leaf is pops and is hanging in mid air but the mind sees the stem going to the branch.

I agree with Gary about the leaf and the branch but the branch removal is up to you as its not that distracting

Great piece, Seb. I love the softness and the simplicity of the picture. I agree to them the branch is quite distracting, but it depends on you if you want to remove it. Anyways, it just a suggestion.
