The yellow flower is the subject here, I might have placed it more at the 2/3rd point, but I also like the different composition here as well. Looks like you might have a little vertical white thing there in the background, but you almost got rid of it with the shallow DOF. Is the photo a little dark too? Looks like a fall day somehow.
Great DOF use. I like the shot, though I agree with GB that you could've left a little more breathing room for the right hand side of the flower. A nice mix of colors, the yellow really pops on that neutral background. Well done!
Thanks GB and Jared...that "white thing" is a flagpole. I didn't notice it in the original composition of the shot, nor did I notice it in processing. The reason this is a little tighter on the right side is because there was something that would have been distracting on that side, so I cropped it out. Plus I thought this crop gave a good 'tall/short' counterbalance with the tree and the tulip on either side.
As for the 'darkness', it was still early morning....around 10.

Real good. I like you titles. Perhaps the reason they sound a bit spiritual is the sort of spiritual feeling youcan get when you are out there taking photos for the photo's sake (while waiting for your car, etc.) and you get in the "zone" thinking about the angles and the colros and the choices you can make to express them.
I spend a few hours once shooting a subject very much like this. One thing I did was to try and get a bit lower and shoot upwards. I think your shot may have benefited from that.
I'll post one of the better ones seperately from your thread. It may give you an idea of what I mean and I'd very much like your commentss.
