    Another Weed

Since I was playing with weeds...I did a conversion similar to the one suggested by Gary, bringing some color back after converting to BW by Channel mixer.

It almost lookes like some type of space creature! My eye is really drawn to the brown part right in the middle of the plant, and the way you composed the picture, the plant stem brings your eye right to the top. Good job!

Thanks Jorge. I have a friend who hates this shot because she says it's like having an eye staring at her. I guess that's your alien.

It is quite "in your face" so to speak but I like it. I am a bit surprised by how the bg looks definately grainier than the weed. It looks good but more or less natural. Don't get me wrong here, I like the result. In fact, the color work on the weed is especially impressive.

    regards

    Re: Another Weed

Thanks Seb. Channel mixer conversions can get quite grainy/gritty feeling if extreme adjustments are made as happened here in getting the bg light enough for good separation of the subject. I had the converted image on a layer over the color and partially erased the bw to allow some color (smoother too)to come through. Good pickup on the difference, I think it helps the separation of fg and bg.

I agree with Seb's analyzing...it's definitely "in your face." This is a great shot though. Love the subtle color and I love the strong DOF. The framing is done well too.

    Good job.
