    From another Skyway

These are taken from the Cherohala Skyway during my visit there around a week ago. The ride up through the chilly, damp layer of air was a bit cool but from the warmer layer above, the views were great. These shots don't do justice to the actual scenes. I liked looking down into that layer of wet air.

I really liked the second one. It definately has a bottomless feel and evokes feelings of being on an airplane. Good one!

    that's awesome!

I too like the second one, the framing of the trees in the foreground help give a sense of how high it is, well done.

I think there both great shots, i really like the on top of the world feeling, however i think like the first the best because of how the spike in the clouds contrasts on the sky, and how the clouds are lit up by the sun rays. good job

    Lucky Lucky Chunk!

I bet that was an amazing trip! The first one is my favorite. You really get a sense of looking down into a soup of clouds and how high up you must have been. The background mountains didn't even register with the first two looks. I thought they were just darker clouds. Now they look like islands. Cool!

    Thanks to everyone for commenting.
C.L. that's how I felt being there. Those distant ridges above the lower clouds but still in the wet soup did feel like isolated islands. I wish I could have captured it so that would be felt on first seeing, without needing to study it.

I really like both, but the first is my favorite. The clouds seem to mimic the FG, which is what caught my eye first. I too feel the "islands". But I didn't quite catch it at first, either. Great shots!!!

    Re: From another Skyway

Chunk, I like the second one as the lighted trees in the fg bring me into the scene and give a relation to the height and depth of the scene. Must have been a great ride. I have taken rides like that on my KLR 650 through the high points through the Hudson valley and it is quite a thrilling experience. It does get chilly, as you said.

Thanks Gary. Maybe you can lead me on a ride up the Hudson some day.
