I can see why it's called black lake. I think it is cropped to tight , top to bottom, but the reflection is great and the subject too.

Yes, I want more at the top but I like this one a lot. I like the trees and the color of the trunks.
    No, I DON'T need that.

Interesting crop . Give the viewer a bit more and it'll be great. I'm a big fan of the cross-processsed feel.

    Thanks everyone!

There are technical reasons for the (in camera) crop I chose. I was using a rangefinder and a 50mm prime. Had I shown more sky, you would just see more blown out highlights like the one spot on the top right. Had I shown more foreground, you would see the green grass of the shoreline.

fx101, I don't understand your comment about cross processing. This is a straight Velvia scan.

What Rangefinder are you using? I have a couple of rolls of E-6 I need to shoot.

I was using my Bessa R2A. The meter always does a good job, with the usual exceptions for bad lighting.

    Thanks, Aaron!

No, it's 100F. I want to try 50, but it wasn't available before this trip. I had never tried just plain 100, and I didn't want to take something new with me, so I stuck with 100F, which I tried a few times previously.

Thanks Paul I gotta be honest, I'm kinda scared. I'm hoping I don't like it too much cause this could real expensive real quickly...LOL I might have to try my hand at E-6 processing

Re: Another shot from Black Lake

Reflection, patterns, colors and horizontal position are great. But I wonder if the line where the lake meets the horizon might be too close to the center of the frame. Vertically, I think the top of the photo might have benefited by including more at top when taken as stated in the crop comments above. At this point, I might experiment with cropping down the top of the photo so there is less visible above the lake, thereby emphasizing more of the reflection in the water.
