    Another Old Window

Here is another one I pass all of the time. I worked in the building when I was a teenager in 1977. I helped a repairman repair appliances. It use to be true about the Maytags. We never worked on them. Not so any more.

I like the subject and your inclusion of the pipe and electrical outlet on the right. i also like the only real hint of color being the rust of the wrought iron bars and the pipe. The only suggestion i can make here is to leave more space above the window frame at top. It feels a bit uneasy having the window frame resting on the edge of the pictures edge.
I like the sepia like tones throughout.

Thanks Gary. The pipe was the big thing I wanted to know about. I also am practicing some with the burn tool.

I think it's successful, but I do seem to notice an ever-so-slight tilt to it (????). Ya really gotta be critical with this when dealing with a very geometric subject and background like this. Also, I would have loved to see an old ladder or something leaned against the right side wall. GB

It looks pretty straight in PS. I think the lean you see is in the bars. But I am bad to lean one to the right. You call that a slice in golf. LOL. This is a easy rehoot GB, if I could find an old wooden ladder. Here's an edit with more at the top. 11x14 format.

Greg, I think you can keep the square crop on this and take off from the right side. Seems to be too much there. The top looks good.

I think Gary is right about the crop. Personally, I would like to see it a little darker. Not that it is bad, I just prefer darker images.

I agree Greg. I felt it could use a boost in contrast as well, but do not lose any detail in the window and bars.

Thanks again. I had to underexpose this as it was. It was really bright when I took the picture. I'll tone it down some. I did use the burn tool on it a little.

    Re: Another Old Window

Greg - The second post doesn't have the rotation I mentioned, so good there. It does seem a little less contrasty than the first though: I also prefer the first in that respect. Glad you could do a reshoot.

    Re: Another Old Window

    hello Gary
The edit is the job. The tones here are so good and the subtle colouring on the bars is lovely. i also really like the torn mesh/fly screen that has remained on the window.
But I do not find the pipe at the bottom to be any asset here, mainly because of its awkward position/tilt. Perhaps a little more contrast Greg.
