    Another Moon Shot...

Well, it seems like a lot of us took photos of the moon last night. Here's my take. This was taken on a whim, actually. I was walking back to my car after taking some other shots, and looked up and saw the moon looking rather small (but just about full) through the tree-tops. I decided that since I had my camera and tripod out, I'd take a shot. Here's what I got.

There are a few things about this shot that kind of annoy me, but conversely, there are some things that really intrigue me as well. I'll start with my negative critique first. I don't like the fact that the moon is not clearly recognizable. The photo takes on sort of a suggestive element, which I guess in the end, is not really a bad thing. I just wish the moon was clearer. I also wish that there was more happening here other than just branches and the moon.

I do like how this shot moves from pitch black on the left to bright on the right, with the branches surrounding the moon like hands. It sort of gives it an eerie, spooky element which is pretty cool. I'd like to see what this looks like 11x14 or 24x36.

What do you think of this shot? Am I seeing things that just aren't there? I HAVE been known to do that ocassionally. LOL

NIIICCCE...I like that the moon isn't clear, it lends a more ethereal element with the blurred light, but sharp darkness. I also like the emptiness of it. Few things are scarier than this sort of dark stillness, where the light is totally helpless. Wow, look at me wax all existential or something...Anyways, great capture.

I don't know how to put this, but...I'm kind of a big deal...People know me.

i LIKE it! It has a great quality, and the fact that the moon is hidden behind the clouds, lending a nice gray to them, is quite pleasing and adds not subtracts.

I too like the black on the left moving to light on the right. Along those lines, my only suggestion is to play with the crop to balance the photo a little more... I don't mean make it more symmetrical, but to balance the light and the dark parts. But that is probably an aesthetic choice.

    Good job!

I like that the moon is one big blurr, it adds to the eerieness of the shot. And the way the branches become more defined toward the centre, pull your eyes right to the moon! I likey!

I love it!! It looks like the moon is behind clouds. The lighting of the branches gives a *very* eerie feeling to the whole mood of the picture. The only thing I would change at all would be to crop out a bit of the "empty" space on the left side of the pic. There's a bit too much negative space. Just don't crop too much. Some negative space over there is needed to balance the light on the right.
