So do -. It looks very nice. I'd crop out a little of the lower part of the photo, as it's too dark and doesn't add much to the composition. The B&W effect is different.
I like both of your birch pics, however, this is my favorite one of the 2. I like to shoot the sun through the branches letting the tree/branches/leaves be silouhetted. I guess I like the stark contrast between the light and the dark. Again...both are excellent IMHO.

I must have my monitor very bright, because even though it is darker there seems to be a lot of detail on the lower bark or are you suggesting cropping to the 2 dark patches on the birch about 3cm from the bottom?
If you do that amount of cropping then the photo seems to become unbalanced to me, so would need to be cropped from the sides as well which would loose a lot. or is it just a centimeter, which still seems to unbalance the composition.
Any comments on my observations?
