    Alyeska Summit

What's up, I took this shot at the top of Alyeska Resort which is located in Girdwood, Alaska. Very foggy and COLD day!

Haha, no those are my tracks I made for a different angle before I took this one.

I use a Nikon D80 with a simple 18-55mm. Very cheap lens but it works great! I just recently picked up a new lens that I'll be using as my main one from now on. It's the 16-85mm VR. Enjoy the adventure photography takes you ;).

Very nice photo. It's nice to see some detail in the snow and keep some of the colour in the sky.

The only thing that bugs me is your footprints in the snow. Otherwise, it's a keeper!

I like it but at the same time think you should consider cropping it slightly above the mountains rim. I really like how well the snow is exposed and the sharpness of the image from front to back. Excellent work.

    Good exposure for the snow.
I can see why Greg thinks it might help to crop above the mountain and eliminating that sun. I can't decide whether the sun hurts or helps. It will give you a completely different shot.

Great capture, you did well holding details in this light AND tack sharp as well.Cropping the top / sun-burst out would improve this already excellent piece of work.Nice job!

Fantastic shot. Exposure is bang-on (that's Nikon for you). I might try derrick's suggestion. That said, I like this shot well enough as is.

    What was the focal length?

    Re: Alyeska Summit

What I find exceptional is that you got sun, snow and bare ground in the same shot with proper exposure and detail in all. From a technical point of view, that's a real accomplishment. From an esthetic point of view, the only thing that bothers me are the Bigfoot tracks, which detracts from the pristine nature and distracts my attention from your intended purpose. I believe that if you had left the person who made the tracks in the picture, it would have been much better than just having a pristine scene with a mysterious intrusion, but then I've long felt that most scenics can be improved in depth and people's ability to relate to the scene by having a person in the foreground.

Wow, didn't expect so many replies! Thanks a lot guys!

@draymorton, I think it was 18mm, I don't remember as it was last year in march.

I do happen to have different shots of similar views, let me try and find a better one.

    EDIT:
Ok so the only other choice would be this picture right here..
Note - I do notice that faded jet stream near the sunburst. Try and pretend it's not there? I'll have to use the clone stamp tool to fix it later.

Also, here's a cropped version of the first one I posted..
Note - Alright so what I did instead of just cropping, is I used the clone stamp tool and got rid of any tracks that were showing after being cropped. Then I used the lasso tool to select the area I re-did and sharpened around 75% or so. Hows it look?
