I am intriqued by the backstory of this picture. The woman in the shadows to the left is a distraction for me. What about a crop that would highlight the two on the bench? Did you stick around long enough to see how the story progressed?
Yeah, this one feels busy to me, too. I absolutely see why you took it, though. I wonder if converting to B&W might help. I don't think the color is really adding anything here. That being the case, I'd try removing it to see if that makes the actual story and composition better.
