    Re: alone

I sort of wish you were closer to the person on the bench but I really like the way he/she/it is outlined against the white and if you got closer or lower that would be lost.

How about if you crop away everything to the left of the center of the tree? I sort of did that on my monitor and I think it makes your theme a little stronger.

    Good one.

    Re: alone

Thankyou, MB! Don't know why I hadn't tried that. Takes different eyes sometimes, I guess.
I also need more practice at converting to b/w. Is it working here?

    Re: alone

I like the picture, frog. i think MB1 touched on the same points I had been thinking when viewing this. the crop works, but maybe a bit less tight.
    The conversion looks fine.

    Re: alone

The crop is great and the blown out sky works well with this as a black and white. I like this.

    Re: alone

My problem in converting to B&W (as compared to just shooting in B&W to begin with) is what happened to the sky here. It is completly blown out. If you were shooting B&W you would likely used a red or yellow filter to get some tone in the sky.

You may be able to pop the sky in photoshop (I never use the thing). Still this is being pretty picky about a fine image.

    Re: alone

Yes, it's a fine image, especially with the crop. The sky is a slight problem, as has been said, but it is a small point.

    Re: alone

I agree with the others. This is a nice shot (especially with the crop) and the B&W conversion is well done. If you want to try different conversion options, you may want to consider Picasa's filtered B&W option. It allows you to try the different filters to see how they would affect the resulting image.

    Re: alone

Thankyou for looking and your comments Gary, MrYuck, MB1, Mike, and PC.
I was fortunate to have spotted this person and that he/she,( I don't have any idea which), was sitting in the same place for so long.

    Re: alone

    Frog -

Nice shot. It does portray being alone alright, though to me, the tree and the bush seem like people here too. So it's almost like the three of them are outside the fair. Funny how that is.....

I think you were wise not to disturb the person here, but wish you could have gotten in closer. Also for next time, maybe try a lower angle too? I don't know if it would work but might be work the electrons.
