    Almost Sensuous (Safe)

I am really liking the colors I get with the DVD. This shot, I used common dish washing soap.

It is the back of a DVD with dishwashing soap.

I do like the high saturation.
    How did you light it?

Great colors Arne! This is candy to a color addict! The abstract qualities here take away a lot of arguments about sharpness and lighting, etc. and really puts the accent on color and form which is, personally, what I would always prefer to talk about. Nice job! Keep playing and experimenting!

An interesting result of color for a few drops of soap on a DVD, illuminated by light. But since everything is transparent, it may not be possible to put it into focus.

Haha, this shot is pretty cool, but the title gave me a different expectation. I feel a little let down that this thread doesn't have a pretty girl in it, as the title seemed to indicate (I'm strange, I like to see pictures of pretty girls).

I digress, the composition and colors are pretty nifty. But, there is some harsh edge transfer in the colors which give it an artificial and unnatural look. I don't know how much was processing and resizing, or if some of it came straight out of camera that way. Though the image is otherwise interesting and well composed, this jagged, digitized edge transfer of colors is a major distraction and kill this shot dead for me. Could you post the original? I'm curious how the colors looked straight out of camera.

That's about it, very little processing, I believe I only resized it.

I like it too Seems a little pixelated and maybe a bit soft, but the concept is great. Maybe some PP can smooth out the lumping and transition points I see in the colors. Maybe a macro can make it sharp?

    Re: Almost Sensuous (Safe)

You guys sharpen rainbows?!? What's wrong with you? Light is both wave and particle and at this level in the game there's only so much sharpening you can do. This is refraction and bent refraction through the soap. The sharpness is happening at the "digitized" area which in all liklihood actually exists in some kind of alligned refraction on the disc, Arne you didn't mention whether this was a clean unburnt disc or recycling an old one it might matter I don't know haven't played with these enough myself. The point is mentally suspending (for a moment) what it IS and start thinking about what you SEE. I see color for colors sake and a way to shift the light enough to make it interesting to look more than once. At 100% I don't see anything pixelated about the imge at all.

Arne - Please forgive me for tinkering with your image, :blush2: I largely restrain myself from doing so with others' pictures but your colors and shapes are very inspiring and definitely have more than a few sensuous curves I just had to explore. . .

I agree with Cindy here. Beautiful colors and flow to the overall composition of the shapes and i feel the artsy and abstract quality of this makes most of the technical mumbo jumbo a moot point.
I like the softness of it and would not want to see anything crisp here. Yep, looks like there might be some posterizing and banding in the colors but it actually becomes part of the piece and appeal.
    Looking good from here, Arne
