Strange.. But definitely a very different type of subject.

I would crop out the top 1/10 of the photo so that you cannot see the tops of the poles there. Just let the viewer guess how far they extend up.

Nice sharpness on the rocks and the freezing of the waves.

Yes. I like them both but the second one adds a bit more mystery, though the bottom one is nice too in that you can figure out what is going on. GB

I think I would left this picture untouched. I just like how the poles are shaped. The lighting is very interesting, just as it was on your other beach shot.

Definitely "strange" with the tops of the poles showing. I like both, but I like the cropped version better - it grabs my interest more.

thanks for all the feed back on this shot, im still not sure which version i like better, maybe i can give you some more detail, i took this in ocean city NJ around the 56th street beach area, the pillars are from a pier that use to go out into the ocean, for the life guards i am guessing, but over the years they started to fall down, which is why the tops are like that

    Re: Almost ocean

I like the cropped version better only because I think in the other one the ends of the poles are too close to the edge of the frame. I stay away from putting anything of importance at the edges of a frame. It just doesn't look right for some reason. I think had you left ample space above the tops of the poles, you would've had a better shot than the cropped one as well.

I'm in the minority here. I prefer the original shot of the two, but I'd like it even more if there was a little more sky above the poles if possible.

    Re: Almost ocean

I agree totally with JMK and I would like to see the tops of all the poles.
