    Alberta landscapes

What do you think of these? I've never really been interested in landscape shots, but thought I'd give it a go. The 3rd pic is for my photo class -- part of the project is closeup shots.

I like the drama in the first two images, nice job. As for the close up I would go in even closer.

Too bad all the people who know how to run this country are busy running taxicabs or cutting hair.

These are great shots. I love the first one - it's a hanger. You captured the light and the contrast of the storm very well.

You also did a good job with the 3rd one.

    Re: Alberta landscapes

This first two are a little too big for me to see on my monitor. But I like the scenes. I think the second one could be cropped tighter and maybe work better as a horizontal. There's much more grass than is necessary to tell the story. I think the emphasis should be on the juxtaposition of the sky, mountain, sunlit hills, and prarie. But I get sort of lost and distracted in the grass and see the hills as background rather than the meat of the image.

The first two images can both use some Photoshop work. The first one has too much contrast between the shadows and highlights. But it's nothing that can't be improved with software. The second one is a bit too flat and cool for my taste. I'd add come contrast in the grass and add a bit of yellow and red.

The third image is nice, if a bit obvious. I also think it could be improved with a little post-processing. I would try to lighten up the barbed wire and shadow a bit to get that wire to pop.

Nice to see some Alberta photos. I love Alberta. Where were these taken?

Hope my comments helped and I hope you post more

Thanks, your critique definately does help a lot. Are these changes better? I cropped and warmed the 1st, and dodged the 2nd.

    Thanks!

ETA: Hmm... as I look back at them, the first could use some further cropping... I'll have to change that tomorrow.

I think the first one is spectacular. It could use even a little more of that hill perhaps. I feel cheated I want to see a bit more of it.
