Alaska Photo 5 - Guardian of the Cabbage

At a house in Wiseman, a very small Alaskan village on the way to the Arctic Ocean.

This little kitty belongs to one of the residents there named Jack Reakoff, a fellow who lives in Wiseman and gives tours of the village. He says the cat guards his very productive summer garden (not shown) from various critters ... the vegetables and other plants grow incredibly fast in Alaska during summer months, due to all the sunlight.

Subtle differences between these - which image do you prefer?

It's a tough call, which one is better. I think the second one is a little stronger for me because the cat is looking into the frame. Technically, I think it's a bit flat and slightly over-exposed. I also think it would benefit from a tighter crop.

the title says alaska, otherwise it can be any country side scene

probably play a bit with the curves to give a bit more contrast and color

#2 for me, for the same reason that John mentioned. And it does seem a little overexposed.

Does the Guardian of Cabbage perchance know the Duke of Prunes?

Thanks. Per your suggestions, I tried darkening and adding a little contrast to # 2 ... your call as to whether it's better. John, I tried a crop but didn't like how the scene closed up... plus cats are free, so why would you want to constrict the poor little kitty cat like that? rrr:

Armando, it's definitely Alaska.. I wouldn't fool you guys like that (sort of like the lunar landing in the American desert theories, eh? ). really though, most photos could be anywhere unless it's the grand canyon or Eiffel Tower. do you like the edit? I do and I don't, the original seems more harmonious. I guess 'contrast' sometimes comes across as 'conflict' with me.

Thanks too, Dray. I never asked the cat if she knew Frank Zappa. Had to look that up .. I'm sure he was on something when he wrote that song.
