Another potential piece for the Agriculture 2007 series. I'm trying to find a hook. Struggle and challenges in the farming process are quickly emerging as one main theme. (Weather, disease, fuel problems, etc)
I like this a lot. It's a great idea. I am not sure how well it fits into a theme without seeing more. But I feel you pulled this off well. I hope I get to see the rest of the story.
Greg
I am like Barney Fife, I have a gun but Andy makes me keep the bullet in my pocket..
drg, I think the theme of Struggles and Challenges in the farming process is a good one.
In this set of four, your conveying to us the dangers of Crop dusting with wires and radio towers all about? If that is the case, I am getting that from this but I must say that I do not feel the "quadtych" works well for me. I'm not sure exactly why, but i think I'm not getting the reason for the inclusion of the first one and feel losing it and leaving this as a Triptych would be more effective.
I think this will be an interesting and challenging project your taking on and i would like to see how it comes together.
This project obviously extends over many months. I started with work in the late winter (JAN-FEB) then there was the planting season (posted one image from that) and this was an 'added' feature.
This part of the Air Campaign I thought I'd explore here as there are 75+ very similar photos of this session.
Greg, thanks and I will post a summary this fall as this nears completion plus other selections in the meantime.
swmdrayfan and Frog, the wires and the horizon should add to the sense of danger and struggle. . . it may work better at a slightly larger scale, but I hope it conveys enough even small.
The first shot everyone who has seen it says something similar to one of the comments here until they look at a large version of this or one other photo that isn't well exposed. The wheels of the plane are below the tops of the crops! Since the plane was coming right at me much of the time, even starting to shoot befor the plane appeared made the timing hard to get the composition as I had hoped. Plus I didn't want to get sprayed with fungicide and an organo-phospate(nerve agent for insects).
gary as usual I value your thoughtful and detailed commentary.
Quad, Trip, Dip-tych is all up for consideration with a series of this type. I've another one in the gallery/blogs that has a horizontal theme that will be cut down to a triptych of diptych, just not sure which images I'll include.
