    After the rain

It rained hard then stopped, I grabbed the camera and went up the hill before it got darker ...

I took a few frames considering I may want to do an HDR, but decided not to, and only used the -1 exposure to do the PP

    C&C s ?

    Regards!

    Re: After the rain

can't go wrong with some nice post-rain clouds. I wish we had that kind of terrain here in the mid-west. I'd like to see the hdr version anyway.

    Re: After the rain

Love the sky and I think the tree to the right works well to frame the shot. FWIW I also ink you made the right choice by not going HDR, often (like here) a simple adjustment of levels/curves can achieve the same or better result. Nice work, and lucky you were in the right place at the right time WITH the camera handy

Nice shot. I actually thought it was HDR, but I guess realistically the clouds help compress the dynamic range quite a bit.

    Re: After the rain

n8, jet, daq, thanks for your comments

it took me a bit to get to the location, i was making up my mind, trying to gaze if the rain will continue, then tried to convince one of my kids to come along with no success, drove up the hill and then walked about 10 mins

so, this time, nature gave me ample time for the shot

Daq, you are correct the sooc image has the whole histogram without spilling to either side, then it was just a matter of making the trees lighter, and increasing the contrast in the clouds, trees are probably a bit too saturated.

I love this picture! The clouds are drawing me closer to look at the picture intensely like a magnet. In turn, my eyes are fooled that the clouds are moving. I love the different hues of green. Nice!!

    Re: After the rain

I thought it might be a well done hdr. An hdr might have brought out some of the darker shadow areas in the shrubs/trees but I don't think that would be an improvement and more likely would be a detriment.
The only problem I have with the shot is a lack of subject. The log lower right center does not stand out enough to anchor the shot and my eye just keeps traveling from place to place and finding nothing that says,"Hey! Look at that!"
Exposure, dof, focus, light are all great.

    Re: After the rain

    Armando -

I can see why you took this; the sky is dramatic and the greens are muted and deeply saturated. But, I think the image is hurt by the lack of a subject. There just seems to be a big blank spot right there in the middle. Where's a UFO or flock of birds when you need them?

Another possibility is to crop most of the sky off. This may help a bit.

    Re: After the rain

You have a good eye catching this one. I think the tree on the right adds some to the shot. I think you processed it well too.
