I'd love to see the face of the child with arms folded!

The sidewalk is distracting, but probably couldn't be helped. What bothers me more tho is the girl's head is cropped off.

She looks mad, did she not want to get into the fray for some candy?

That was exactly where I was stumped when cropping this. If I showed her entire head then there would be too much sidewalk. I tried to compromise but I don't think it worked anyway. Myabe I'll put the original up and ask people to suggest other compositions.

    Thanks for looking....

I'd probably try to crop this so all you get is the one child's face that we can see amid all the kids around him. I don't think the pouting kid works or the one at right. If you post the original, I'd be happy to show you what I think.

Ok, but I would never have guessed that if you hadn't said it in the title. Too bad you couldn't get some of the Piņata in the pic,... But it would have required color to do that justice. Actually, this might have been a pic that was more intended for color, if you had gotten that in.

Piņatas are great. I need to do a shot like this sometime.

How about ' Piņata scrum ' as in a rugby scrum for a title?

A little more of the young lady with her arms folded (her head is cropped at a bad place for me) would help. This is a pretty good photo regardless of that. The more I look I like really just seeing the one face and his expression! Not only does it represent for all the kids in the photo, it also provides a nice central focus in the composition.

The sidewalk needs some contrast or burning as it is showing a little to brightly for me.

    This is really cute!

I took a couple of shots at this. One in color and another in b&w. I also did some cloning to help with the sidewalk issue.

Shame about the hand intruding on the right.
I like the contrast of the one child being held back from the scrum (why?) and one sulking - against all that fun !

Good job on cloning the grass. Why didn't I think of that? I like your colored version more than the BW version....IMO.

    Thanks!

I didn't take a lot of time on the b&w to work with curves or any type of adjustment. With more care taken with highlight/shadow, contrast, etc.. it may look better.

Most of the time I prefer not to do b&w unless it adds some type of dramatic pop to a shot.
