    Adirondack Mountains Pictures

    Hi everyone,

Here are some pics I took while inthe Adirondack mountains. Please critique them as much as you like. Remember, I am still a begineer, so I need MUCH advice. Thanks. Also, feel free to tell me how I could have taken the same shot better, or how I might edit them. Any advice at all, (encouragement is welcome too, though). Thanks.

    Re: Adirondack Mountains Pictures

I say they're average and they defin. need some work. There are too many of them to critique here. I find 2 & 4 are too busy. 1 & 3 aren't. But 1's skies are way too blown out, 3's skies isn't . So that leaves me # 3. That's the best one out of the bunch. The skies are well exposed. Nice view, but I don't care for the dark trees in the right hand foreground. They take away from this shot. My best advice would be to try and shoot less busy scenes and to get away from distractions. Hope that helped.

i'd agree 3 is the best of the bunch. the colors seem to be a bit dull in the other ones. maybe because they were shot at mid day?

i think 4 has some potential if you rework the shot. change the angle and time of day to try to eliminate the shadows, blown out sky, and busyness. ( it may not be possable) then i'd throw in alittle table on the ground with a drink and a book on it. or something to that extent.

    trumpeterny -

First of all, welcome to the forum. I like the shots' colors and relaxed setting. The compositions aren't bad either.

I would like to see them all sharper - what type HP camera do you have? Even if it is a point-and-shooter, they should be sharper than this. Even if that doesn't always work out, you can load them into a digital editor and use the "sharpen" tool to improve them (just make sure you don't overdo the sharpening, which can make them look overworked).

As Leels mentioned, the top shot's sky is a little too bright. How most folks handle this is to use a polarizer filter to deepen the blue there. But I think #1 is the best of the bunch.

    # 2 is nice how you lead the viewer up the steps. It doesnt have a strong subject, but this might be OK since the theme is the journey. # 3 is OK but could have used a boat out there. # 4 is fine, but you should consider posing a friend on the hammock like they were asleep. That might look pretty neat.
