    Adirondack Chairs and Rolling Hills

This was taken outside the location of Howe Cavern, upstate New York. Great place and beautiful surroundings. I used a polarizer on my 19-35mm zoom lens, taken at about 20mm. I really had better hopes for this shot, and was somewhat disappointed with it after scanning the neg onto the puter. Some cleaning up in jasc psp8 and levels adj, and desaturated slightly as the colors were just popping to brightly. All in all, I think it wound up ok. What do you think?
    Thanks

    Hello Gary,

I like this one. Your composition is fine. The colors/contrast seems ok. The only detail that bugs me is the tree at the extreme right. However, if you crop it then the right chair will be way too close from the border of the frame.

    regards

    Seb

I dig this shot. I'd clone out the tree on the far right, but other than that it's a pleasing shot. Great colors and composition. Not sure if you could use PS to bring out the chairs a tad, might not need that though.

Nice composition and perspective. The shadows are an important part of the image and without them this image would definitely lose some impact. You always have a nice way with colors and this image is no exception. Normally I don't prefer the horizon in the middle, but this an example of an image in which it really doesn't matter to me (because of the chairs).
I do think the image looks a bit "heavy" when it comes to the colors. I played a bit with the image and I prefered some levels correction (black and gamma slider moved slightly to the left) and even less saturation. My impression is that you have a slight prefererence for deeper saturated colors in your shots. Nothing wrong with it, it's just that I lean in general towards a less saturated look. I will try to focus less on the saturation in your shots from now on, since this is all a matter of personal preference ;)

    Well done Gary.

I like it gahspidy, I do however like it flipped as bobbythebandit has done. It seems to add to the photo in some way, more depth I think. I like the colors and the chairs, it is very clear and sharp too!

Thank you all very much for the time to comment.
Sean, I was also bothered by the branches/leaves at the edge and was going to clone it out but wanted first to see if anyone else commented on it. You and Seb did and i agree with that.
Bobby, Itried flipping it as well when i was editing it and felt it didn't add so much more that i should alter it's original composition. But, after looking at it over and over, I may reconsider.
JoeD, thanks for the positive feedback. Yes, I do think I Keep my images, colored ones, somewhat saturated but i like the look and feel of a less saturated image as well and am trying to curb my appetite for colors and contrast. It's like when i listen to my music, I love to turn up the treble and bass ( and volume), but I think moderation is a great virtue. The thing is though, I don't usually increase saturation and at times decrease it as I did in this shot. Somehow maybe my combination of lens and film seems to give me very rich color. Good points.
Betty, thanks for your feedback, as always.
I would have like to take this image alittle later in the day when the sun was not so high giving me that hard light. But I did not want to lose these puffy clouds, which I would have as they were gone in a few hours after this shot.
