Ozette Coast Pics

First off, hello to everyone, this is my first post.
These were 2 pictures I snapped this summer while hiking thru the Olympic Mountains.
They were taken by an old Electro 35 GSN. I'm having some problems with get my horizon straight, its happened on just about all my pics. Don't know if its the camera or if my heads not on straight

I say there's no reason for a crooked shot with computers around!

They have inexpensive little levels that fit perfectly into a flash mount that I'm thinking about getting for myself as I seem to have the same problem quite a bit, hah.

Greg: bad idea! I got one of those and checked whether an bublle in between the two marks was a good indication of horizontality... well it is not.

A good way to make sure your bubble level works fine is to put it on a flat surface and mark the position of the bubble. Then you flip the level (your turn it around by 180 degrees)... the bubble should be at the EXACT same position. If it is not, then the level casing is not straight. Only the most expensive camera levels seem to work fine. But they will take you back $200!

By the way, this is a good shot of the Ozette coast. While I have often been in the Olymoic Nat'l park, I haven't yet gone to the northern tip of the peninsula, I heard it's great.

I much prefer the composition of the 1st shot to that of the 2nd. Looks really good in landscape orientation, imho. I like your use of b&w, love the silohuette, the light reflecting off the water, and the contrast of the image. As you said, you need to level your horizon.

I was wondering what people's opinion would be on the vertical composition vs the landscape format. I'm being kinda stubborn on not using the computer to adjust my pics, but I can definitely see how it can improve the picture (as greg showed).

I agree - over manipulation is a terrible terrible thing.

I try to limit my messing around to the sort of things I can actually pull off in a dark room (which isn't much!).

These were two other pictures that I took. Actually the one from the forest was snapped by my girlfriend. She has a good eye for pictures, I just don't give up my camera often.
Anyway, if you are ever looking for a great place to hike check out Ozette. It's a great overnighter and not to bad of a drive from Seattle. Cheers
Oh, the shots need to be put thru PS to get rid of that line going thru the center of the pics. My whole roll had that line in all the pics

So this is a film camera, who ever developed them scratched the neg! Not a good thing, or perhaps it was done in the old camera?
Anyway i wouldnt go back to the place you had them done, unless you did them yourself?
By the way i really like the shots youve posted so far.

I did take the pictures back the same day and they gave me my money back for developing. But, I still ended up with scratched negatives on a roll I was pretty proud of.
Oh well, it will force me to get to the coast one more time
