Interesting choice of subjects. I don't see how they relate to one another, but great use of colors and lighting. The yellow background works well against the dog and flower.

I am like Barney Fife, I have a gun but Andy makes me keep the bullet in my pocket..
yes they dont really relate to each other.. just an experiment with studio light and such.. the objects happens to be handy.. its interesting in the sense its had no post procccessing.. its a full frame shot straight from the camera..
I like how sharp both objects are and the lighting is great.
I especially like the yellow background It brings out the yellow in the flower.
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

Your experiment has provided you with a good sharp well lit (albeit a hot spot here and there) result. But it lacks interest, post processing or no post processing.
I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan
