    Abandoned shack

Taken out at the Salten Sea, this is a strange place to visit, the shoreline composed parly of fish skeletons . Nasty place... but I don't know if this photo conveys that,,, it might look like a nice little spot here?

    Re: Abandoned shack

I've read about this place in National Geographic last year. There were some really tremendous pictures for that article. This is an interesting image that definitely conveys harshness but I think it is the lighting not the scene. I really would have liked to see more of the interior of the shack or a wider angle to show more of the abandonment feeling and the surroundings at large to pound it home. This feels more like a salty 50's era snapshot of the beach. You're right, it doesn't look half as bad for a swim as I know it is. Did you get any shots of those wicked looking petrified palm trees I've read about from there?

    Re: Abandoned shack

CL - I took a whole mess of shots out there, but they seemed documentary-like... I will scan a few more and post them sometime soon. I shot most of them with a 24mm lens (dont know about this one). Walking into these buildings, it's actually somewhat scary... there's animals living in some of them. I didn't see the petrified palms btw.. Gives me a mission to go back out there and try.

This place is so weird... abandoned buildings, shacks, RV and trailer communities with abandoned units (and what appears to be wild animals living in the vacant units). The water's extrememly salty so very few fish can live there, and there's a lot of dead fish etc on the shore. Biting flies frequentely attack, and the air smells very bad. To me, it seems like what the USA would look like a few yrs after a nuclear attack. But there are many photo ops there for those who have the dedication. I need to get back out there before the summer heat kicks in, see what I can find...

So cool to have a zone like that within driving distance. Looks like a location I'd take bands to if the smell didn't make them cross their eyes. Can't wait to see what else you've got from there!

I would love to see more of the shots too!! Sounds like a neat place to shoot. I would like to see this shack at a different angle. And maybe from a lower vantage point. Don't ask me why! It just got into my head and heaven forbid I ever keep a thought to myself.

Sounds like an intrigueing place. . . the shot is not bad , just too contrasty for my liking as the sun was behind the subject causing it to look like a black mass with no detail.
please do not edit and repost my photos

GB, actually, I dig the very (overly???) strong contrast and the odd color rendition. I am not sure that the picture is as spooky as it could have been but it does looks odd and somewhat scary. There is a tension here. The pole at the right with the bird on it is very weird. Why a pole there??? I guess that I would prefer this scene with a wider angle of view so I can put the shack in context.

I am highly interested to see your other pictures from this location. The place seems most interesting.
