    7 Deadly Sins - the other 4

    Hi all

After another day at the British Museum I have come up with the remaining 4 deadly sins, completing the series (you can see all seven at: http://www.mikedalesphotography.co.u...olio48581.html )

A word of explanation about them:

Avarice = greed (so I took the image in the 'money' section)

Sloth - most people think sloth means laziness, but actually it has more to do with time, and its misuse. So I took this one in their collection of clocks.

Gluttony - the bust is Bacchus who, of course, is the Roman god of wine and excess

Wrath - the statue is the Mollosian Hound, a Roman statue of a dog which is the precursor to the modern mastiff. It is a huge dog with all the charm and friendliness of a pit bull with a toothache! It is an extinct breed, but was used as a war dog or guard dog.

As always, any comments are very welcome. I know that usually Critique images tend to be single ones, but I am especially interested in your views of it as a set.

    Cheers
    Mike

I just love the whole series. Couldn't pick a favorite. The layer work is great - very effective throughout, without looking overwrought.

Can we see all seven together on your site?

Yes Mike the layering is perfect. The series should go over well.

    Mike,

All of these are excellent, no, fabulous, no, stupendous and a wonderful series.

Sloth - is giving me a problem though - it just doesn't give me the Sloth feel in fact I see it the other way round and I see someone who is paying interest and itching to learn not slothful at all.

One other thing about Sloth - there seems to be two rats under the bookcase which you may want to clone out as once seen they are very distracting as your trying to work out what they are.

    Regards

-Particularly like the third of this excellent set,I don't have any problem with "sloth",given your explanation....it makes perfect sense.
Very hard to choose the best of them...love the compositions-"envy" and "pride" are among my favorites, perhaps the other 3 should be here, too ?

I think that wrath looks perhaps a little too cute and cuddly.
Is there another angle that looks more vicious?

Re: 7 Deadly Sins - the other 4

    Thanks again guys

Roger - I got rid of the "rats" - well seen! As it happened, they were just some of the layered writing.

Paul - oddly enough, Wrath was the toughest to find something suitable for - I took innumerable wall carvings of Persian bowmen etc - but all looked (as well as being) rather two dimensional, nor could I get a clean shot of Spartan helmets etc. Never mind - just because this project is finished doesn't mean that I can't drop another image in if I find something better.

    Cheers
