    2 for your consideration

Hello all, Many things going on here that I'd like some comments on.
First of all...There are some firsts. It's the first time that I have used manual settings with this camera. Also, the framing, it's the first attempt at a frame using just PSE 2. I usually use Microsoft Picture It! Premium 10's frame function. It was also the first time that I flipped a U-turn on the freeway (at a legal turnaround) to take a picture and the wife actually didn't mind!!!!! (that was important!!!) haha. It's also the first time I used NEF (raw) shooting. Not sure yet what I did or why, but I like some of my results. This patch of ice is about 20' high...just for perspective...
    Anyway...here's the techs...
    Nikon CP8400
    1st photo ISO 50, f4.6 @ 1/90sec, focal lgth 10.7mm
    2nd photo ISO 50 f4.5 @ 1/147sec, focal lgth 6.1mm
Finally, it was extremely overcast. No Flash. I used pse2 to auto contrast and adjust fill flash slightly. Also, auto color correction. I didn't try to adjust any of the "NEF" settings.
Any suggestions, comments, accolades, teaching...all greatfully appreciated.

Ken, I like the top shot best. Well lit, good color, and nicely framed. The bottom one is somewhat dull, and there's what looks like a small hair or something that's in the picture.

Wow John...nice catch...I worked with that for about 30 minutes and never caught that...I've got something running now that won't let me start PSE to check it out...but I'll post a corrected one a bit later...I took 2 shots at the same settings so as to have a backup...Also, thanx for the comment on #1...

You'll never believe it!!! That hair is actually a one in a million shot of twig blowing through the frame. It was easily identifiable when blown to full size. Admittedly, it is very distracting and the other backup shot doesn't have it...so tomorrow I will replace the above with new one.
