    2 grandchildren portraits

First is Isabelle, second is Trever. 9&7 Surprised that they would sit still and let me move there faces and chins around. Sitting close to a Christmas tree..no colored lights.
Comments good or bad welcome and thankyou for looking.

Nice shots Frog. I feel both are good. I think #2 would be better if the youngmans ear was all in the frame , but it just a small nit pick. Nice work.....

    Re: 2 grandchildren portraits

Looking good Frog. I REALLY like the composition of the first shot, though I think it could use some slight adjustments. I played with it a bit and it's a definite winner after some tweaking. If you'd like to see what I came up with, I can post it or email to you if you're interested. Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas

    Re: 2 grandchildren portraits

Thankyou, Greg! I agree about the ear but se-la-vi. I was paying most of my attention to the how the light was hitting his face.

Aaron, sure go ahead and play with it but please tell me what you did.
They were shot in raw so I still have plenty of leeway. I did adjust them some but I never know when its too much or too little.

I got lucky with Isabell's hand going to brush her hair back.

HI Frog. I didn't do much. I did some noise reduction, then adjusted the white balance, and lightened it up a tad. What do you think?

It does look better......I'll give it a shot.
What noise reduction program do you use?

    Re: 2 grandchildren portraits

I used Lightroom for all adjustments. It isn't the best for noise reduction and did loose some sharpness with the noise reduction which I tried to compensate for but, a slight softness with this shot seems to work anyway.

    Re: 2 grandchildren portraits

These are very good although I think they are both a little too dark and the color balance is a little too yellow/red.

The image of Isabelle is fantastic, nice moodiness and I like the way you have her filling the frame. I'm thinking the image of Trever would be stronger with a crop from the right removing the ear from the frame entirely and from the bottom to match the crop from the right.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Hi Frog!

Great shots of the grandkids. I think you might have cooled off the white balance a little too much but it's all according to taste. If you're using PS or PSE there should be an option to let you adjust for skin tone in the enhancements menu, you might give that a couple tries to see if you can get her skin tone more accurate. Love the composition and the darkness of the background adds some mystery and interest to these as well.

    Best,
