#2 Entry for Photo Project Forum

And now I have reached the five-pic limit for the day....

Here's another attempt for the November "Mechanical" photo project forum.

I cropped to try to meet the thirds rule, saturated and cut the brightness again. I appreciate your honesty, time, comments and suggestions. Thanks.

Re: #2 Entry for Photo Project Forum

I don't think this one works out very well, Paula. There just seems to be too many things happening -- chain link (partially out of focus), clamp (partially blocked), and label (clipped) all vying for attention, and all canceling each other out. The brightness is OK. I really think that if you used a very good DOF, say shot at f 22 and with tripod, that this may be a lot more interesting. I see the thirds location but it's inconsequential here.

Anyway -- hope to see other entries.

Thanks for your input, GB1. Your points are well taken. I purposefully clipped the label hoping that the "Do not clean or adjust" would tell the story that, in fact, the mechanic did not....clean or adjust! -- um, maybe that didn't work out so well!

Oh, well, that's just one of the great things about digital!! Nice to have the perspective of another set of eyes. No other comments, so I am guessing that is the consensus -- or everyone is just busy. Thanks for the help.

I think it works compositionally, but like GB1 I think the chain out of dof hinders the shot a lot, the focus looks sort of iffy on the label too. I agree this shot on a tripod at f/22 would help a lot.

I'll try it again. Didn't see a Cadillac for "first prize" on the project forum -- so......if it doesn't work..........

    Thanks!

So why haven't I seen either of these in the project forum.

BTW, I would like to remind people that the project forum is not a contest but an exercise in getting all of us to look at new things to try. Featured photos are nice but there are restrictions as to whether yours is selected or not. For instance you can't have more than one per year.
The prize is learning and getting feedback from your fellow enthusiasts.
