    1st pic with D300 and 70-200 2.8

well I finally took my new babies out, well I stayed in the living room and did a shot of my Senegal parrot Izzy. This was from about 20 feet away and used my sb800 flash as well and ISO 800, which I never could get a shot like this with my D200. I really love the D300 and the 70-200 2.8. well here is izzy and I managed to get a shot of her 2nd eye lid.

As a bird photo, I think the details look good, but the image as a whole could use some contrast boost. It also could use some more room all around except the bottom. You may want to consider blurring the background, too.

As a record and a test shot for the your new camera and lens, I think there's nothing wrong with this photo.

The sharpness and clarity of the bird is very good, but I also agree that there could be more space all around especially in front of the bird. Looking out of the frame like that usually does not work well. Also some distractions going on behind in the bg

thanks guys I know what you mean ,but I like the details cause the parrot is only 6 inches tall.
I will take another shot with better back ground prob outside.

Congrats on your new camera. I agree with Gary on the spacing. But it was a good break in for the new 300
