    17mm

I've posted a few wide-angle shots here lately. Here's one I took today of my son clowning around with a 17mm lens on my D50. Does it have any interest to you beyond the funhouse novelty? Is the novelty enought to carry it, or have you seen it too many times before.?

    Hi LL,
The shot does have a comical effect to me. I just wonder why the shot is not very sharp. Is the shutter speed too slow? I would also like to see the face have some relationship with the background, e.g., shape similarity or why the facial expression. Thanks for sharing.

LL, there is a fun feeling about this. I also feel as Yoyo does about the bg. It is distracting and not adding anything. The focus seems to be good on the eyes, which is important, but the chin and mouth area are way out. I'm wondering if it is because he may have been too close to the lens and closer than the minimum focal distance of that lens. I do not feel the shot has enough novelty to carry it anywhere further than the family photo album, which is not a bad place to be.

Thank you both for your comments. The focus issue is in fact a result of being too close.

    LL,

The focus isn't a huge issue for me...the eyes are still in focus so that helps alot. Definately a neat feature, I don't know if this would be a "wall-hanger" per se for technicial elements but I'm sure more on a sentimental value for yourself. The BG is busy but it's a funny expression nonetheless.

    Well done.
