These were taken on 1/1/09 around 7am in South Florida. I'm curious what looks better. Either the clean picture or the touch up version of a few minutes later in the morning.

By far I like your second one best. The first one has no detail in the highlights and not much detail in the shadow and a soft focus. The second one, I like the color, the calm and the composition, and your focus is better.

The second one without a doubt as explained by Paula, the first one looks almost like an accidental exposure. Also I like the wider view in the second one and the inclusion of the rocks in the foreground.

A lot of people I know seam to like the first one, but I guess from a "photo" person's point of view, the 2nd one is much more desirable, and I think I can understand why. More features and sharper details brings out the best of everything in it.

I agree the second one is the best but could use another element, either on the rocks or in the water, a boat..something to make it stand out.
