    Rookie at selling photos

I am an enthusiast with a D80 and a fixed f2.8 nikon zoom lens. I take pictures at each of my daughters sporting events and usually print some pics out and give to the parents...recently I have had many ask me to print more and that they would pay for them, but I always say don't worry and print it and give them away.

I was thinking about selling some but didn't know the best way to go about this. Get my own web site and post them for others to see and order ? or do you have other ideas as to how to show pictures off and take orders for prints and size of prints....

Thanks in advance as I always feel bad selling them but know that I can't keep printing and giving away.....

I have a web site but find most people want the personal touch. But you could offer it both ways. Web sites are fairly cheap these days.

You'll go broke giving everything away. Also, you could start with a place like picturetrail.com. It's free for the basics and you can add an introduction to your gallery with prices and specs, etc. I think it would be a good place to start with no costs and very easy to use. I actually have 2 albums with them, one for retail and one for wholesale. So far, I'm not paying for anything.

I actually looked at this site...the membership dues and then the % off sales steered me away as I doubt I will sell enough to cover my cost...but maybe in the future....

How have you found the service they provide?

a little pricey...but this is the one I use. www.intothedarkroom.com

Looks very nice, and they can order directly from the site, and it's just the one time fee.

There's a bazillion hosting sites out there, I guess it depends on whether you want to make money, or just not lose money.
