    Inexpensive Marketing Option

I don't know if this has been discussed before but I'll throw it out there anyway...

I used a local embroidery service that I paid a one-time setup/proofing fee of $125 to get my photo logo digitized for their stitch machines. I then took over a whole box of my own clothes, especially those I wouldn't normally wear (like those safari-type shirts that I seem to get as gifts) and have them embroidered for only $7 a piece.

Assuming that you wear clothes when you shoot (either during a job or just shooting), why not promote your business without even trying? I think it makes one look serious about the biz and keeps people from asking why you are shooting what you are shooting.

I hope you can use this idea.

Sounds like a great idea, and I have an advantage. My daughter is an artist and designer.

Ronnoco, even with an EPS or other digital file that you may have, the embroider will still need to convert the file to their stitch programming software which assigns the thread count and so forth. The rest of the set up fee is to get a sample output onto a swatch for your approval.

Once the stitch program is proven, the thread colors can be changed (to suit the specific article of clothing) at no additional charge.

Oh, I forgot to mention that these places also have a lot of surplus clothing on hand (one of these, a few of that) and one should be able to negotiate a good price for these as well.

This is a great idea and in fact is the industry that I have been working in for the last 8 years. I work for Lands' End and we have a division for just this purpose called Lands' End Business Outfitters. We deal with lots of companies, both large and small. It is a great way to advertise and look profesional at the same time. There are also some smaller local companies that do the same type of work.

One day I was QAing our emboidery samples and came across a logo for Jackson Creek Dental. Turns out that logo was for Lionheart, one of our very own PR members. Small world.

Michael, that is quite a coincidence. I always enjoy looking through your catalogs. It's a great place to get ideas.

    Continued success to you!

Thanks for the suggestion, Loupey. Sounds like a pretty good one. I may need to see what I can find as far as someplace that would do the embroidery around here, or in Lexington.

If I'm shooting Little League and not wearing an Allman Brothers Band tour shirt, my customers won't recognize me. Next you'll want me to shave.

Hey! If you have a wide foot, the shoes at Payless are more likely to fit, confortably!
