    Question Pentax K10D

After a fair bit of research I have concluded that the K10D would fit my needs for a more than entry level SLR that would also meet my future needs. I recognize that the kit lens supplied with most of the offerings in the marketplace may not be the best choice. So, would like to solicit your recommendations for an initial lens choice that might offer the greatest value and flexibility as I learn. Pentax or other. Thanks

I have been extremely pleased with the kit lens on my ist DL...which is the same for the k10d...I also have the SMCP DA 50-200 ED...neither lens has ever let me down.

Both the kit lens and the 50-200 are perfectly fine lenses and will suit for all but the most critical of applications. They will do you very well until you know what kind of photography you really want to do (eg landscape, macro, etc) at which time you can save up for a more specialised lens. But the standard ones will still produce cracking pictures.

I am very much happy with my K10D and being an owner of a K110D, a D40 and a D200, I can tell you that the K10D in my opinion is the best camera of the ones I own...
The kit lens is also quite good and a sigma 70-300mm would compliment it very nice...Actually, if you spend a little more get the Tamron 28-300mm lens and your set...Happy shooting...

The Pentax kit lens is a fine lens. Like jgredline said, complement it with a 70-300 and you have all but the extreme tele/wide angle covered.

    Smile Re: Pentax K10D

To add confusion to the equation an experienced photographer who loves the Nikon D200 has recommended it. So, back to further consideration and I have posted at the Digital SLR forum to solicit further feedback ref the merits for an amateur acquiring either camera. As a very new member of this site I would like to offer my appreciation to those of you who have taken the time to address my concerns.
