    Night and Glare, *Ist DS

I've been doing more night shooting recently (due to the fact that it's been darker more often than not) and have noticed that whenever I take a long exposure shot of a light in the distance, with the WB set to tungsten (to reduce the yellowness of lighting) I get green glares.

I've tried taking pictures with the the lens hood on as well as changing angles, but the glare is nearly always present in the same position in reference to the light in the image.

I have noticed the glare doen not appear when other WB settings are used.

I am using a *ist DS and a Pentax SMA-DA 50-200 lens or the standard 18-55 that came with the camera.

Is there a filter or a technique that can help me out? I love low light photography and have considered moving over to a Canon or Nikon because I've ruined a number of potentially great shots with the glare.

The obvious question first: are you using any filter at all? If so, get rid of it. By the way, I seriously doubt that Canon or Nikon will do anything different. Most DSLRs are fundamentally the same.

No, I don't normally use a filter during night shots.

It would help to see some examples of the problems your having. I use a filter and never have problems from glare. There could be something though in the lens(es) your using that may cause it.
