After countless hours checking prices on a K10,
I found a killer deal on a GX10

DHL lost my package for 2 days :mad2: but it finally arrived.
So here it is fresh from the box
Sammy 10 & 6 side by side...I'm stoked.

I know very little about the Samsungs...but I've heard some great things about them...good luck with the "upgrade". Please post lots of pics for us to peruse....Happy holidays.

oh...I guess I should point out all Samsung DSLRs
are in fact Pentax cameras with a Samsung badge.

I bought the Samsung becasue it was a better deal.
The GX-1S is the old Pentax *ist ds2
GX10 is the same camera as the K10 (minor body changes)
My GX10 was half the price of a K10
the menu display is more subtle and not so colorful
1 reviewer said the menu's font is smaller

Congratulations on the new camera, Hollis!

I can't remember who, but one of the pro photographers that does reviews had the K10D and the Samsung at the same time and said he liked the Samsung UI better. I really liked the K10D when we had it for review. It has a very nice feel and I love the built-in image stabilization and weatherproofing. So I'm sure the Samsung is great. The one thing I'd like to see is a JPEG comparison. Because Samsung tends to overprocess their images, in my experience. And I wonder if they toned it down for the DSLRs. Of course, you can just shoot RAW and it won't matter.

This was the 1st weekend I got to see what it will do.
1st photo, this subject was very patient with me
(he only opened 1 eye to see what was going on).
2nd photo was shot at ISO1600 (why I had it there, I have no clue)
