    Thoughts on the E5

Well I have been shooting with the E5 for quite some time but have never really posted any thoughts on it. But I guess it time to share some info.
First off the LCD is a dream. Bright and clear even in sunny weather.
Second, I love is the level gauge. Enough said.
Third, focus speed is noticeablly faster than the E3. Mostly I notice it more with the 50-200mm
Four, Image quality, definitely sharper a thinner AA filter makes a big improvement. Noise is a good stop and a half to two stops better than the E3. Color rendition, out of camera Jpegs look better to me. Crisp would be a good word. I have printed up huge panos, 48x18 and 20x36 and the detail is stunning. If you want more IQ than the E5 can put out your asking a lot. For what I do the IQ is plenty.
All in all the E5 is a nice improvement over the E3. Kudos Olympus.
I can't wait to see what the E7 will bring to the table.

I have both an E-5 and the E-3. I basically love both cameras with the exception that the shutter/mirror noise is far too loud for shooting wildlife photos and that is what I mostly shoot. But other than that, I think Olympus is right there with Cannon and Nikon, if not ahead in som ways.

The E-5 is a great camera and renders a fine, detailed photo.

Here's a few I took just last week.

    Have a good one. BB

I bet you love the x2 crop factor being a wildlife shooter. Those are some awesome shots. To be honest I haven't heard any quiet shutters. You would think that with technology where it is someone would make a quite shutter.

Amen to that Greg! They can do so much nowadays in so many directions, that if they just pulled their heads out (and I am speaking of all the camera research guys from all the companies) I know they could quiet them down a lot. It's not only in wildlife that the shutter noise is a big factor, but in church weddings, conferences etc. it is distracting to many. I, like you can't beleive they haven't done something about it.

Other than that I really like my Olympus E-5 and would encourage others to get one if they want a nice camera.

If you don't mind Greg, I would like to ask you a question about using a 2x with my new 90/250 lens. Can you tell what effect it would have and if it would effect the focus and the IQ of the photo?

Thanks and have a good one. BB

I would like an E-5 but cannot justify buying a $ 1600.00 camera
when my E-520 and 70-300 are doing an OK job.
I also like the 2X crop factor

It would slow down your AF and focus speed. I couldn't tell you how much though.
