Good luck There were a few D800s in stock at Amazon when the one I was using was ordered. With DXO marks of 96 you probably would never have a need to upgrade again.
I am like Barney Fife, I have a gun but Andy makes me keep the bullet in my pocket..
If you're looking for a pro camera right now a second-hand 5DMk2 is a good option. Some of my friends have it and they just love it (despite the weak autofocus).
If I were you I would wait a few more weeks. Both Canon and Nikon are supposed to be releasing a prosumer full-frame model for well under $2000. Even if you're not interested in the prosumer model it might drive down the used price of the 5DMk2 a bit more.

Not buying any more gear this year. I hope
Right - could mean anything. It seems to me the emphasis is on lens and auto focus performance. There is much talk of an E-7 body but the announcement wasn't at all specific about whether they're working on a Four Thirds or a Micro Four Thirds body. I hadn't even thought about a phase detect AF adapter, a la Sony SLT. That's a very interesting thought.
