    E-P1 M mode histogram issue

It looks as if the histogram is useless as an exposure tool.
I expect if underexposed, the histogram will be all the way to the left.
Or overexposed, all the way to the right.

    That's not so.
I saw a nice bell-shaped histogram when composing.
But after the shot, looking on the screen, it was drastically underexposed.

I need to re-read the manual, to see if it's my fault, anyone got any ideas ?

What metering mode are did you use? ESP? Spot? The histogram on my E3 is pretty accurate. Can you compare the histogram in Lightroom or PS?

Histogram looks right (left-handed) in LR.
Live Preview Boost may well be the culprit.
I'll read the manual, and see if it's on.

It is weird that it affects the histogram, but maybe it shows the boosted output, and therefore the histogram is unreliable.

The Manual. Hmmmm....for "technically challenged" people like me, it's a difficult one to get through. There is a lot to this camera - and for me it's a bit overwhelming.

However, I'm having fun with it in the meantime.

    Good luck Paul.

Yes, it's the live preview boost.
Makes the image look brighter, but the histogram then shows the histogram of the display and not the histogram of the scene as it would be exposed.
So live preview Boost is going to stay off.

Thanks, it's what we're all here for.
Someone else will learn from my mistake, I'm sure
