    E-510 Firmware 1.2

Firmware version 1.2 body update is out for the 510. It improves the image stabilization. I updated without any problems.

    Re: E-510 Firmware 1.2

how exactly does one update the firmware Greg? Do I need to install the Olympus Master software or is there a direct download?

***EDIT*** Never mind... I figured it out. I installed the Olympus Master software and I am updating as I type this. Thanks for the heads up Greg.

    ***EDIT #2***

Sigh... same issues as with my E500... The software keeps telling me that it cannot communicate with the camera. It first connects to the camera and then starts the update and never goes any further than that. Every time.

go to the menu Select the bottom icon that looks like a wrench with the 2 beside it. The final selection for you is Firmware. Select that and press the d-pad to the right and it will tell you what your current firmware installed on the camera is.

Mine did that to at first. When your camera fires up select "storage". Then click update camera...

    Re: E-510 Firmware 1.2

That's what I have done. I have tried 2 different computers, 2 different USB cords and 6 different USB ports (3 on each machine) and even called Olympus for support... they just told me to bring it in... like I want to be without a camera during x-mas season lol. I am going to try my laptop as a final resort and then decide if I really need the update or not before the Daytona 500.

Did windows find the 510 as new hardware? It took several trys for me to get it. Turn the camera on and let Windows find it before attempting a connection.
