What are you giving this year?

We are doing family activies for the in-laws, along with homemade gingersnaps, truffles, stuff like that.

Looking at a puppy for the girls....

Everyone in my family and my close friends are getting a Wisconsin scenic calendar that I had printed using my images. I did one last year and it was a big hit, and I was even able to sell a few of the extras I had.

A puppy you say? Consider a rescue dog or adopting from the animal shelter. They usually even have a 'trial' period for families with children. Good for the dog and also to see how well the pooch fits in to your life and schedule.

Gifts this year, camera stuff where appropriate including cases, flash memory (lots of people getting new much higher megapixel cameras), and some bean bag 'pods'.

Non camera folks getting books and ahem, floor mats for their cars. I found this place in a local mall that has floor mats for anything you can imagine including custom items.
Sports teams, alma maters, barbies(not buying any of those), and all kinds of other weirdness to wipe your feet on when getting in and out of the car. Shhh, don't tell them. A few gift certificates. Plus I hope to catch up with all the people that I have been trying to have coffee or a meal with for the past 6 months.

We are going to go thru the beagle rescue organization. Did our research, a beagle fits what we need engery/size/personality wise. Our only main concern is coloring, as we need to be able to name it Gingerbread. The girls have a stuffed dog they've been dragging around on a leash, and it's name is Gingerbread.

I am giving my wife a trip to winter resort during the holidays and contributing to a new SUV for her and of course a few other things. For my daughter, it will be a new computer. I don't know what to get my son yet.

I usually get something big for Mother's Day. 2000 it was my first slr, 2001 was an suv. Since 2002 we've been in the house, and it's usually something house related to whatever I'm interested in at the time. One year sewing, one year gardening....

Christmas isn't that big of a deal for me personally, but that's because within a week we have my birthday, our anniversary, Christmas and my dd's bday. We usually do something bigger for my bday/anniversary, then focus on the kids for Christmas.

Interesting! Anniversary too! Wow, lots of celebrating in a short period of time. My wife's birthday is on the 27th, two days after Christmas. I usually buy her a present during the boxing day sales and take her out to dinner.

Dragging around on a leash, eh? I don't know I that bodes well for the pet-to-be. Ah, I suppose they'll figure out the difference. Eventually...

Wife is getting lots of hugs and a day off from the kids... and from me... well.. lots of hugs and me taking the kids out so that they can give her the day off lol.

She also got a nice little....erm... smoking apparatus for the times when we imbibe of some "green" christmas spirit from the land of Herbology.

I got myself a new telephoto lens a month or so ago and that was my present to myself for the year. 50 - 500 oughtta get me close enough to be safe at the race track.

I'm hoping that the pet-to-be's legs will be long enough to keep up. Either that, or the fur is long enough to dust my floors.

Found somewhere local that we are going to get it from (knock on wood). Everywhere we looked to adopt didn't have any puppies at all. Only older dogs set in their ways. My concern with a grown dog is that it may not be used to kids, and act out.

I'm going to check them out tomorrow, to make sure they are reputable. Puppies are around 3 weeks right now, he said we could pick it up Christmas morning.

Re: What are you giving this year?

To the drunk uninsured driver with no licence who crashed into my wife's parked car at 05:30 this morning - a free ride in a Police car.

To the thieves who attempted to break in last week through the patio doors, new Yale bolts top and bottom (the door now has 4 locks) and a PIR triggered light over the back of the house.

To Angie, hugs and kisses (and a limited edition Steiff teddy bear) and reassurance that she wouldn't be better off shooting herself, and no matter what happens she's got a wombat.
