Google Fonts is one of them. So most of the time, if a font is free, it’s because it isn’t very good. This includes the vast majority of the fonts found on DaFont or FontSpace. Many amateur type designers will put an idea into a computer but not have the skills or time to polish it to high-quality completion. They’re usually either drawn poorly, badly spaced, lacking characters or quite often all of the above. When type designers do spend the time to put the professional polish on a font, they’ll usually want to recoup all of that time and effort by putting a price on it. Good fonts are worth paying for.

I prefer to deal with such vintage fonts https://thedesignest.net/free-retro-fonts/. For instance some 50's fonts work perfectly for me. I suppose it will be a huge helper to anyone who’s into a vintage style. I think you will like it too. You see, all fonts are made with a huge taste and perfectly designed. Hope it can help

There are many sources to obtain free fonts online. And it is up to you how to use them. Besides, there are resources that offer you great font collection for literally a few dollars for personal use. Plus you buy all lifelong updates of these collections. You can install kika keyboard to experiment a little. Just switch on your creativity to develop new designs.
