Orange kitchens – modern or just too retro?

So I stumbled upon a kitchen design in bold orange and kind of loved it. But my partner says it looks outdated and “very 70s.” Can orange be made to look modern, or should I stick to something safer like white and oak?

Re: Orange kitchens – modern or just too retro?

I had the same debate with my partner about orange in the kitchen. It can look dated if you go with overly saturated tones, but modern interpretations use burnt orange or terracotta, which feel much more sophisticated. This collection of ideas really helped us rethink the color — https://paintit.ai/blogs/modern-orange-kitchen-ideas. We ended up going with matte orange cabinets paired with black countertops and brass hardware, and the result was stunning. The trick is to keep the lines clean and combine the color with natural elements like wood or concrete to balance the warmth. It feels vibrant in the morning and cozy at night, especially under warm lighting.
