    Let's Spend a Billion

Now its an idiot Democrat: Joe Biden want to spend 1 billion dollars to track the P2P activities of every US citizen. He seems to believe that it would really simple to do this.

"At an afternoon Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing about child exploitation on the Internet, Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) said he was under the impression it's "pretty easy to pick out the person engaged in either transmitting or downloading violent scenes of rape, molestation" simply by looking at file names. He urged use of those techniques by investigators to help nab the most egregious offenders."

    Can politicians get any dumber?

From what I've seen, our choices are always limited to dumb or dumber.

Spending 125 million per year to track, arrest, prosecute people who traffic in child porn is not a bad thing. I do not like Biden, but this idea is one I would support.

Read the article again. This would do absolutely nothing! You can not determine what the file content is by looking at the file names. Besides, you can not monitor all P2P traffic for 1 billion. Biden is woefully lacking in technical knowledge but has the power to act on that ignorance anyway.

I read the article, I'm not illiterate. I would agree you cannot monitor all the computer traffic, and I will agree that Biden is not a technical guru. What Senator or Representive is a guru for any subject that they vote on or help to push through congress? Was the vote to allow atomic weapons voted on by physicists? Nope! Was the vote to enact the National Highway program voted on only by civil engineers? Again, probably no. In fact, you might have to search high and low to find any bill that has passed the US Congress that had a majority vote of "experts" in the field of that particular subject.

However, you state this would do nothing, when ICAC does do something. Did you read the entire article, especially this paragraph?

"Biden pushed for passage of a bill known as the Combating Child Exploitation Act. It would authorize more than $1 billion over the next eight years to hire 250 new federal agents devoted to Internet crimes against children, provide additional funding to regional computer forensics labs, and give out more federal grants to the regional Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task forces. The House of Representatives passed a companion bill in October."

ICAC does work, so adding 250 new Federal Agents will help. Will it catch all the child molesters? Nope, but will it put a dent in them? Yes and that is good thing....isn't it?

Therefore, I fail to see how spending 1 billion over eight years is a bad thing; especially in this day and age, when the pork barrel is flowing rapidly out of DC into local districts for things such as Rangle Museum, golf course, bridges that are not wanted, cost a fortune and go nowhere. So, spending 1 billion over eight years to catch child molesters (forget the porno title, they are child molesters) is nothing.

Let me add I cannot stand Biden; I believe he is a liberal idiot. However, this proves to me, even the most liberal idiot can do something right once in their life.
