Green Bay Packer QB Favre retires...

Wow, Adina. You must be slipping up. Beat you to the punch on this one...

    http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/story?id=4384880&page=1

This guy has been one of my favorites over the years. Kind of ironic he coudn't play well enough in the cold weather to beat my Giants in this past year's NFC Championship game...

Good for Brett. It's better he leaves with something in his tank, rather than to be 'nudged' out the door when his arm strength, mobility, quickness, etc depreciate below NFL-level, which will definitely happen (sort of like death and taxes!).

Btw I never thought Green Bay was that good last year.. The ball just seemed to bounce their way a lot of times. I guess it's time for the Rogers era to begin.

    I was working!!!

Heard it on the radio this morning, the general consensus is that they probably wouldn't be able to go 13-6 or better next season, so better to go out on that then an 8-8 season.

They also said that up until Rodgers starts in September, there's the possibility he'll be back, but I don't think that's likely. But every news outlet in Wisconsin will be covering this until then.

7 months till football!! (although we are thinking about adding hockey to our family outing list, much easier to get tickets)

I guess you'll all have to cheer for Manning now..... the question is.... which one?

I could just see the Cheese Heads all melting when they heard about Brett retiring. I guess we'll have to put up with him in the booth now though, then again he can't be worse than some of these commentators......

Just kidding of course but it does seem a lot of former QB's are ending up behind the mic.

Naw...he'll end up coaching some high school team in Mississippi, and riding around on his lawn mower in the off season.

Since GB is in the same division as my lowly Lions, i have NEVER been a fan of them. But I am a HUGE fan of Brett. He is one of the few pros that plays with not only talent, but heart and desire as well. He never backed down from a challenge, never left his teammates to "fend for themselves" and would do anything that the team needed, QB or not.

He was a true competitor. I will miss watching him mop up my Lions.....

I've always wondered...do the Lions play every Thanksgiving? Seems like I remember seeing them every year.

How'd they manage to get that gig?

Re: Green Bay Packer QB Favre retires...

The Lions have been playing every Thanksgiving Day that I can remember....

I think it is because the Lions fans are pretty strong and will show up EVERY year. We show up giving thanks that detroit is such a great sports town.... We have the Red Wings, Pistons and Tigers.... We also have some of the greatest college programs in sports in Hockey, Football, Basketball ect...

Now all we need is a pro football team to finish it up.....

Go Lions... And take the Ford family with you.......

I'm glad he retired while still in his prime - although I swear I heard him say during the season that he was already coming back. Not often that you can watch a legend's entire career.

This guy is one of my favorite players in the game of american football. He is really a legend of this game. I really admire him for his determination and game savvy.

watching football won't be the same since he's gone...not a huge packer fan per se, but a big brett fan...
